Enjoy the taste of freshly made butter at home using this amazingly simple kitchen gadget. Just fill the plastic container with whipped or double cream, leave to get to room temperature overnight or 6 8 hours in the daytime. Then just shake vigorously for approximately 3 minutes until the buttermilk separates from the butter. Tip upside down to strain off the buttermilk through the lid and rinse with cold water until all the buttermilk has gone. Unscrew the ramekin base to find a pat of butter in the base just waiting to be used you can add salt at this stage if required. There’s hardly any mess and the butter maker can be washed in the dishwasher when dirty. The container is printed with recipes for Honey Butter and Roasted Garlic Butter, but there are lots more you can try – just add the ingredients with the cream at the beginning of the process. It’s great fun and a fantastic way to get kids interested in the kitchen, too.
